The Latest...

Above the clouds of Quito...

Kelea and me! One of our last nights together : (

Our new puppy Thea! So cute!

A lot has happened, so I'll try to stick to the highlights. First of all, I was sick forever! I had a cold, and then I had stomach issues, and then I drank water from a river while camping (right up there on my list of smartest things I've done!) so that didn't help my situation in the least. I'm actually convinced that I have some kind of worm or something... gross... I hope not.

Another piece of cool news is that we adopted a puppy named Thea! Actually the first week that we had her it was horrible because she was insanely sick with a virus and the vetinarian said that she was probably going to die. Lucky for us, we adopted a tough puppy! She's still sick, but the worst is over and she's been running around; peeing and pooping all over the house like a normal puppy should do!

Work has been really good as well. I decided to change my thesis topic because I have been researching maternal health the entire summer and won't have a chance to study climate change. It was a difficult choice to make at first, but now I'm really happy because I would have preferred to do something in the realm of health to begin with and I have loved the work that we've been doing the past couple months. Last Thursday and Friday I got to travel to Cuenca to interview pregnant women at a special clinic that just works with adolescents. It was really fascinating and I love Cuenca so it was cool to get out of Quito for a few days.

The summer has really flown by it seems. I have less than a month and a lot to finish before taking off for good old Eugene! Actually, I'm looking forward to senior year a lot. The classes I'm signed up for all seem super interesting, I'll be working, and I'll be back in my house with my favorite people in the world!

¡Espero que todos esten super super bien y nos vemos muy pronto amigos! ¡Abrazos fuertes!
